Christmas

Christmas this year was as magical as ever. The entire month of December I focused on slowing down and enjoying the spirit of the season. I don't think I have enjoyed the time leading up to Christmas more than this year. The few days before Christmas were spent in pj's, baking, and being together as a family.
On Christmas Eve instead of reading about Christ's birth we watched a really special video about it. Everett loved playing with his little people manger scene all month and while watching the video he knew who everyone was. It was really special. After the boys were in bed Stephen and I made our own special Christmas Eve dinner together. It was so nice having a delicious dinner together and then setting up Christmas for the boys. Christmas morning was so fun watching Everett open his presents and Nathan crawling all over the place.

December

December is always the most magical of months. There is a warm and peaceful spirit in the air that is contagious. A few fun things happened in December that wasn't Christmas related and of course a lot of things that was Christmas related that will be in different posts.
We finally sold Johnny's car. Johnny's car is a black infinite that has been in my family for years. It was first my brother Jesse's then he sold it to my brother Johnny. Johnny had it the longest and thus Johnny's car just kind of stuck with it. When Johnny moved to Norway, Stephen and I were moving to Atlanta and needed a second car. And that is how the infinite came to us. We have been driving it for over three years now and it has been such an amazing car. But when we finally upgraded to an suv we didn't need it anymore. Everyone thought we would be lucky to sell it for parts but it still ran great and I believe it will run another 20 years. Not really but it definitely has a lot more life to it. We sold it for $1000 and made a young college boy so happy. And that is the story of Johnny's car.
We all managed to get sick this month. First I got a horrible cold. Thankfully no one caught it. Once I was almost better was when the boys got sick. They all had a pretty miserable cold for about a week. Besides those colds we have stayed pretty healthy so far this winter.
Stephen had a pretty awful experience one night he was on call at work. When he came home he went in to Nathan's room while he was sleeping, picked him up, and rocked him for a while. Then he went into Everett's room to kiss him. It is a night I'm sure he won't ever forget unfortunately.
We started a tradition last year when we decorated a gingerbread train and decided to continue it this year.
We visited Santa Claus! It was so fun for the boys. Everett was really excited until the second it was our turn. He still told him what he wanted for Christmas but wasn't happy enough to give him a smile. Nathan was as content as could be. We had the boys in matching pj's and it was the sweetest thing. I didn't even care that I had to pay $25 for the three pictures.
Our ward Christmas party was a lot of fun. Everett had a good time stealing from the dessert table and dancing.
Everett also had his preschool Christmas party which was of course so adorable to watch.
Stephen decorated the tree in the front yard with lights. We had the prettiest house on the block. I was very proud of it.
We had one morning of snow which Everett loved playing in. Nathan wasn't very impressed. Everett made a little snowman and insisted on putting a carrot nose on him.
One of the best nights was at Stephen's work Christmas party. Oh my gosh we had so much fun. It was so fun feeling so free without kids and hanging out with actual adults and just having the best time together. We definitely need to make a goal of doing more of that.
