NYC

Sometime after we got married I found out that Stephen had this dream to see Metallica in concert. From that moment on I wanted to make it happen. So a few months ago he told me they were coming on tour in the states again for their new album. I tried so hard to play it off like that's cool but no way is it going to happen. Secretly I was just hoping he wouldn't try and find a way to go. I looked up the tour dates and saw that one was a week before his medical school graduation. So I called my mom and convinced her and my dad to come out a week early and watch Everett while Stephen and I drive to New Jersey for the concert. It all ended up working out perfectly. I surprised him with the tickets on his last day of school which was so fun. Then the weekend before graduation we drove to NYC and saw Metallica in concert. It was pretty awesome!
We had such a fun trip and of course the concert was the highlight of it all. I wasn't aloud to take pictures of Stephen once the concert started but you can just trust me that he had an amazing time!
The rest of the trip we walked a lot (12 miles one day). It was a pretty rainy and cold weekend in the city but it was fun exploring anyway. My favorite part of the trip, I mean besides the concert of course, was going to the metropolitan museum of art. It was amazing. We only had time for about an hour there but I could have stayed all day. The artwork was beautiful.
Our first night we decided to go to the 9/11 memorial museum. I will never forget it. It is a very emotional place to visit. I am glad I was able to see it but I don't think I'll go back.
On our drive home we stopped in Washington DC to take a tour of the capital building. That was the one thing we didn't do last summer when we lived there for a month. It really is such a neat place and DC is such a beautiful city.
