Outer Banks: Day One

We had such a good time at the Outer Banks with Nana and Papa. I was a little worried at first when the day before the trip Everett was home with a fever and throwing up. We had all just recovered from the stomach bug a couple weeks earlier. I didn't want him to have it again. Thankfully the next day he was feeling well enough we could still go but he definitely wasn't feeling 100%.
Day one we arrived at Kitty Hawk. We stayed in a really nice little beach house right on the beach. We left windows and the front door open almost constantly so we could always hear the sounds of the waves. Even with the kids with us it was such a relaxing and fun time. I love how vacations with the kids are actually starting to feel a little bit like vacations and not just taking care of the kids in a different location. We are starting to figure things out to make traveling with the kids doable and fun.
We spent the afternoon right when we got there out on the beach while Nathan napped inside. Poor baby had pooped on the drive there and got a terrible rash from it. He suffered the whole week from that rash. It was awful. I felt really bad for him. Dinner that night was at a fun restaurant right on the waterfront. We walked out on the boardwalk after dinner and enjoyed some of the sunset.
