Stephen and I love the 4th! It is the perfect time of year, we get to celebrate our wonderful country and those who fight/fought for it, and get to see fireworks! This year was a little different having our sweet Everett at home. We almost ended up doing nothing but staying at home all day. Then Stephen decided that we at least needed to go for a walk and then come home and grill hamburgers. Then he got the amazing idea that we should just grill hamburgers at the park. It was such a great idea. Lately I've needed someone to force me out of the house and to have a good time.
We packed up our little grill and went to the grocery store to buy our picnic foods. Then we headed to riverside park and set up our little picnic on the grass. It was a perfect afternoon and just what we all needed.
Later that night we were still debating bringing Everett to the fireworks because we weren't sure we wanted him to stay up so late. At 9:00 he had been bathed, just finished his last bottle before bedtime, and was sound asleep. We then decided that we would just drive to the fireworks, stay in the car, then avoid the rush heading home. Well we found the fireworks but they were blocked behind the buildings and the roads to get closer to them were all closed. We found a parking lot that let us see them a little bit and got there for the grand finale. It wasn't as fun as seeing them up close but Everett stayed asleep the whole time and went right back to sleep once we got home which is all that matters.
The next day at church was fast and testimony meeting in sacrament. Almost all of the testimony's shared were related to the 4th and the love they all have for our country. It was a really special meeting and a perfect way to end the 4th of July weekend.
