September:
You loved having dad take you to your first day of preschool.
I am excited about your preschool class and teachers this year. There is more structure this year and more expectations which will be really good for you.
One morning we played lava all morning long while getting ready for preschool. Every room kept filling with lava as we got ready to go until finally the whole house was filled with lava and we had to run to the car.
As our plane was landing in Utah you asked "Dad are you sure it's supposed to do that?" I think you thought the plane was falling apart.
You come in mom and dads room one morning, tuck dad back into bed, and say "mom, go get Nathan with me. He's awake."
October:
You have lots of toy lightning mcqueen cars and some of the paint on them are chipping. You call dads facial hair crust. When you were pretend playing with your cars you said that the ones with paint chipping off had crust so they were the dad cars.
When you smile or laugh it melts my heart.
"It's a beautiful day." I smiled so much when you said that.
At your school fall party you danced your little heart out. It was the greatest thing I have ever seen you do. I am so glad I have it recorded.
We did a few different trick or treating parties this year. One that was really special was trick or treating at the nursing home.
You loved the Halloween party at the gym.
You and Nathan looked adorable as astronauts at our church trunk or treat. You really loved the rocket ship that dad made.
One of your all time favorite days was at the State Fair so we made sure to take you again this year and you loved it. We got you an unlimited rides wristband. You had so much fun riding the rides over and over again. I think your favorite ride was the same roller coaster from last year.
November:
This month I really tried focusing on mom and Everett time during Nathans naps instead of you watching your show during that time. It was a struggle for me because that is the only time in the day I have complete alone time. We had some really fun afternoons though and it made me so happy when you started asking for more mom and Everett time.
You learned how to write your name! I am so proud of you. You were one of the few in your class who hadn't learned to write your name yet. So we worked really hard with it over a long weekend and you learned it and now do such a good job writing it.
One morning dropping you off at preschool I was leaving the room and I heard you turn to your friend and say "Paul, I am going to play with you and Brian on the playground today." It was so sweet.
You love your uncle Jesse so much. You were so happy that he came for thanksgiving. You two had some fun times at the grocery store and watching shows together.
I love how sweet and cute you are. When you were a baby and toddler I would sit sometimes and stare at you trying to memorize every feature. Sometimes I still find myself doing it.
It was really bitter sweet when you started asking to be dropped off at the school round about and walk yourself into class instead of me parking and walking in with you.
Your preschool class went to the gingerbread man puppet show at the library. It was really fun watching it from the back of the room while you sat with your class.
One morning you sat in my lap all morning and said that you wanted to sit in my lap for the whole day and have me hold you. The thought that came to my mind was that I will hold you forever my little one.
You know which way is right and left.
I needed to get some cute pictures of you smiling for our Christmas card so I said potty words to make you laugh. It worked really well and it was pretty funny.
It is amazing watching your progression since you have started school. You are now trying to color in the lines, you write your name so well, and you will use more than one color in a picture now. I am so proud of the progress you are making. You are such a good boy too. I love hearing when you have earned five pennies at school from doing five good deeds.
Your school pumpkin patch field trip was so fun and Nathan and I loved tagging along.
One of your favorite things is taping things. You love tape so much and will use it on everything.
You learned how to write your last name this month too.
We made mini paper ornaments for your little Christmas tree in your room and after finishing one you said "Wow this one looks fabulous."
Your thanksgiving feast at school was so special. My favorite part was having dad there for it. I loved watching you sing the thankful songs. You almost had mamma full on crying because I was so proud.
It shouldn't surprise me but sometimes you really do surprise me at how sweet a boy you really are.
December:
You surprised us when you asked Santa for a fish tank for Christmas.
You came in our room one morning and asked when we could go to another pumpkin patch and Easter egg hunt.
Lately some nights you will wake up around 9:00 or 10:00 needing to go potty. It is so funny though because I'm pretty sure you are still completely asleep. You hardly open your eyes at all and don't say anything. I just help you go and put you back in bed and you fall right back into a deep sleep. It is so funny.
You came into the kitchen one afternoon and said "Hmm is that my favorite smell? Banana bread?"
Somewhere you learned some yoga moves and you are pretty good.
We took you to a town Christmas party one night. You and Nathan rode a little train, played in some fake snow, and watched a lights parade. At the time I was upset because I missed a fun girls night to take you. It made me really happy when a couple weeks later you said how much fun you had riding the train, playing in the snow, and getting candy.
Something you said. "Dad doesn't have a big white beard he just has crust."
You drew so many pictures the weeks leading to Christmas. You wrapped them all and put them under the tree.
You can count to 100.
You are starting to sound out and spell words.
You love making up songs on the piano.

Everett you are such a sweet boy with the best heart. I look at you and my heart wants to explode because of how proud I am of you. I wish there was a way for a mom to explain the love they have for their child. The best way I have to show you is by giving you a thousand hugs and kisses and I love yous every day. I hope you never get too old to let me give them to you. I had a hard couple months when I realized you are starting school next year and I will only get to see you in the afternoons and weekends. I am trying to soak up and most of all enjoy the time we have now before school starts. I am thankful it is still almost a year away.
You have so many adorable friends. Lately you love writing your family and friends names down with a little help and drawing or coloring pictures for them. For Christmas about ten of the gifts under the tree were creations you made for mom, dad, and Nathan. We did an angel tree gift for a little boy Caleb this year who is also four and every time you found some money around the house or in the car you asked if we could give it to Caleb so he could buy some toys.
Your heart is so good. You love your family so much. Some of my favorite moments with you is when you surprise me with a big hug and kiss. I love nothing more than seeing you smile and laugh. I go into your room and kiss you good night almost every night before I go to sleep just to make sure you are comfy and not to warm or to hot. I don't know how I got so blessed having you as my first little boy. Your family loves you so much Everett!
