This year we spent Thanksgiving in Utah. Everett and I flew there the Sunday before. It was almost a four hour flight and Everett slept an hour of it. He hardly fussed and amazingly did really well. I however was exhausted and happy once we landed. Because Everett got hardly any sleep he was really tired and wouldn't stop crying once we stopped at Stephen's parents house. We realized after he wouldn't calm down that he might have been looking for his dad. There were so many people around but not his daddy. So we face chatted with Stephen and the second Everett heard his voice he instantly stopped crying and was smiling and so happy. He loved being able to see his dad on the phone and hear his voice. It is probably the sweetest thing I have seen from Everett. He and his dad have such a special relationship. Everett is always the happiest when Stephen is around. He already looks up to him so much.
This time of year is always so special. I have had such a full heart and love for my family. I feel so blessed with how my life has turned out. This Thanksgiving we started our giving thanks tradition book. For Everett's first thanksgiving we decided to put his footprints in the book. He is what we are most thankful for this year. It will be a fun tradition for us to write each year what we are thankful for in the giving thanks book.
We were lucky enough to have Stephen fly out Wednesday night in time to spend Thanksgiving with us. I drove through a snow storm to pick him up at midnight then we spent the night in Kaysville at his parents house while Everett stayed in Smithfield with my parents. The next morning on our way home we got a flat tire just a few minutes after getting on the freeway. The car didn't have a spare but it had some kind of spray sealant that would repair the tire long enough to get home. We had our doubts that it would actually work so Jesse drove out to pick us up in case the tire couldn't make it. Again we lucked out and the car made it all the way to the tire shop. It was interesting driving 50 mph on the freeway the whole way home.
Thanksgiving was so fun. Everett met his uncle Jesse and Jake and aunt Som for the first time. He became good friends with Jesse pretty quick. They spent a lot of time together over the week. Of course grandma and grandpa spoiled Everett so much. Grandma had tons of toys for Everett to play with and some new clothes. Grandpa had a special way of feeding Everett, not in his highchair but in his lap. Everett even made a new little friend when we visited Brandon and Whitney. It was just a great fun week for the little boy.
Stephen and I enjoyed having some alone time as well. We ate at all of our favorite places in the valley, visited his grandma, and we thought it was pretty funny one night when we went to bed and looked at the clock to see it was only 8:45.
That Sunday the three of us flew back to Atlanta. We met up with Jake and Som at the airport and had lunch with them before their flight left. Everett was so exhausted and when he did finally fall asleep when we were taking off something woke him up a couple minutes later and he would not go back to sleep. So we ended up being those people with the crying baby the entire flight. We did get him to calm down and fall asleep for about 40 minutes but besides that Everett cried the entire flight. The poor guy kept grabbing at his ears while we were landing. We were very happy to get home and go to bed after that long day.
