State Fair

The state fair to a child is pure and complete excitement and happiness, if you are tall enough to ride on the rides. But really seeing my children laugh and smile brings me so much joy and happiness. Sometimes I wonder why we parents put ourselves through some of the things we do for our children. But seeing them smile and knowing how happy they are makes it all worth it. I love my two little squishes so much.
Everett talks about the first time we took him to the state fair so much that we couldn't miss taking him again this year. We learned a couple things from last year and bought Everett an unlimited wristband for the rides. He was so giddy and excited about the roller coaster that his whole body would shake.
Nathan got upset a lot that he wasn't big enough to ride everything Everett could. He was tall enough to ride the carousel and we rode it a lot. The man operating it must have thought we all had unlimited wristbands because he kept letting us ride it without asking for more tickets even when we would offer him more.
At the end of the day Everett's favorite part was the cotton candy that was almost as tall as Nathan and the roller coaster.
Hopefully next year we have better luck with parking. Instead of taking the buses back to the car we decided the two mile walk in the dark would be a good idea after being on our feet walking around all day. It was actually pretty fun and we even ended up running some of it. We do crazy dumb things like that sometimes and that's why I love our life so much!

Halloween

Trick or Treat
Taking the boys trick or treating is so much fun now that Everett is old enough to really enjoy it. Nathan was adorable with his mini pumpkin. Everett was so cute holding Nathans hand and showing him how to get some candy. It was fun having grandma and grandpa in town. Everett's favorite house was the one with the huge spooky ghost.

Assisted Living Center
One of the assisted living centers in town was having a special Halloween festival. It was really sweet seeing the boys play games and trick or treat. I wish it had been set up so that there was more interaction between the kids and residents but the residents still seemed to enjoy it.

Wellness Center Halloween Party
The boys wore their astronaut costumes to our gyms fall festival. We took Everett to the same festival two years earlier in the same astronaut costume Nathan wore this time.

Church Trunk or Treat
The morning of our church trunk or treat we decided we should decorate our trunk. We had decided that we weren't going to have one this year. But like last year we changed our minds again last minute. We just needed a space themed trunk to go along with our costumes. On our morning walk with the kids we thought of making a rocket ship. So a few hours later and a couple stores later Stephen had built an incredible rocket ship! It was a pretty amazing trunk.

Utah Hiking

You can't visit Utah and not explore the mountains. We took the boys to Tony Grove Lake and did a little exploring there. Then with grandma and grandpa we hiked to Donut Falls in big cottonwood canyon. That day was freezing cold. Having lived in the South and a warm climate for the last six years I don't handle the Utah cold very well. We still had such a fun time. It is fun that visiting grandparents and family in Utah also means we get to do a lot of exploring and hiking, something we miss a lot.
